Is it scary that I wasn't scared?

Today we went to a Chinese dim sum place in Taipei with my dad's friends/bosses (more friend than boss). Apparently ten years ago they had a lot of power in the Taiwan government; they were both secretaries to some ministers.
Anywhooo...dinner was fine--we had river shrimp, green onion pancakes, a lot of dumplings, etc.--until I ate this duck and taro mixture. Towards the end of dinner, I thought my neck had been bitten by a couple of mosquitoes at dinner because I was really itchy. Then on the car ride home it got so bad that I was pretty close to slitting my throat from scratching so much. It was until we saw a mirror that my mom realized I was having an allergic reaction.
In retrospect, it was probably more nerdy of me to think it was amazing that I was allergic to food than to fear death from allergic reaction. I was just astounded because I've eaten a variety of foods, and have never gotten a reaction. I've even had taro and duck before. We're still not sure what my reaction was to because I think I've eaten everything we had that night before. Oh well, for now, I think a certain optomist has influenced me to be happy that I only broke out in hives instead of having my throat close and suffocate haha.

I didn't go to the hospital, but I went across the street to the pharmacy
